Here is a basic recipe to prepare Ayurvedic herbal oil:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of dried herbs (such as neem, tulsi, brahmi, bhringraj, etc.)
- 1 liter of base oil (such as sesame, coconut, or mustard oil)
- A large glass jar with a tight-fitting lid
- A saucepan
- A strainer or cheesecloth
Instructions:
- Clean and dry the herbs, then grind them into a fine powder using a blender or a mortar and pestle.
- Pour the base oil into the saucepan and heat it over low heat.
- Add the herb powder to the oil and stir well.
- Cover the saucepan with a lid and simmer the mixture for 30 minutes to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool to room temperature.
- Strain the oil through a strainer or cheesecloth into the glass jar, discarding the herb residue.
- Seal the jar with a tight-fitting lid and store it in a cool, dark place for up to 1 year.
Note:
The duration of simmering, the ratio of herbs to oil, and the type of oil used may vary depending on the specific recipe and the desired result. It’s recommended to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner or join a Professional Herbal Oil Course before preparing and using herbal oils.
